Requirements Planning (DS RP)
The right product in the right place at the right time
An Inventory Plan expresses the optimal level of inventory needed to support your business. Your target inventories - along with the plans that you develop to maintain those target inventories - will almost certainly vary by item.
DS RP offers several options for quantifying the optimal level of inventory, including a mix of Safety Time and Safety Stock strategies. (The system even includes a uniquely flexible Variable Safety Time feature). Each of our methods enables you to factor the volatility and relative importance of each of your items.
DS RP evaluates the projected demand for each item against its current inventory and your desired level of inventory, with allowance for transit quantities and open customer orders. The system will look forward as far as 72 weeks into the future, and will perform this evaluation on each of the next 72 weeks (or the next 72 days if you elect to plan in daily mode).
This level of visibility - showing projected demand, recommended orders and projected inventory levels for each future period - provides a valuable window into the future. When this information is communicated through your company - and even shared with your customers and suppliers, it becomes an invaluable competitive weapon.
